Past Imperfect – #396

Carole first realized that perhaps she had gotten off at the wrong subway stop when that whiny little girl from The Exorcist began waving about a crucifix…

    • Trivia: I’ve actually BEEN on that long set of steps outside the house where the priest did that incredibly dramatic dismount at the end. I nearly wet myself as I stood there… 😉

  1. Wasn’t she afraid of the crucifix? I remember that line she said to the priest….”why you do this to me Dimi?” I used to say it to my children when they were misbehaving. Over the years, it morphed into “why you do this to me Dempy?”
They’re all grown now and they STILL say it.

    • If I remember correctly, at the beginning of the movie Little Regan is actually wearing a crucifix on a necklace. Or it might have been the mother. One of them is wearing one, and neither is bothered. It’s only after Pazuzu moves in, literally, that Regan is first agitated by crucifixes and then Regan/Pazuzu grows stronger and starts doing… startling things with the crucifix.

When Regan channels the priest’s mother, with the “Dimi” lines and others, it was some of the creepiest dialogue, at least for me, more so than the more dramatic hollering and screaming…

      • I didn’t really pay that much attention to the movie. Back then, I believed that good always overcame evil…back then. I guess the ridiculousness of the head thing just made me lose interest….and the “Dimi” thing, like I said, became a joke. LOL
