In an odd moment of happenstance during this shoot, the photographer not only captured Marlene in all her finger-nailed glory, he also managed to invent the tanning bed that soon invaded strip-malls worldwide…

  1. Except that dress appears to be made from some sort of foil that reflected back light causing a short that blacked out half the town…

  2. It’s truly amazing, the look a decent David Bailey level fashion photographer can get with just a hair-brushed model, a vinyl chair, an old gold lamé curtain and artfully lit aluminium siding.

    • I believe this is taken from a series of shots by famous photographer George Hurrell, not from an actual movie, but I may be mistaken. There is definitely an art to GOOD black-and-white photography and movie-making, and when it is/was done right, it’s gorgeous. Otherwise, it’s just… colorless…
